If they can sell 100 or more items for free, 1 cent, $1.00 or whatever, you know they are making money! If a seller has a really hot item, another strategy may be used. Take a look at some of the ads on ebay. A seller may run a dutch auction and say 100 items are available. On some of these items, you may see much more than 100 bids. If the number of bidders exceeds the number of items available, the 100 available are going to go to the highest bidders. Some of the bids these bidder's place, are much more than what the item is even worth! So - the seller is making a bundle of money on the item, as well as the shipping & handling charges!
